Free Farm Day At ECHO

LABELLE, FL. -- ECHO (Educational Concerns for Hunger Organization) will
host its annual Farm Day on Saturday, March 4 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The
public is welcome to explore the extraordinary world of tropical
agriculture along with a number of rare and unique plants that have the
ability to produce nutritious food under difficult growing conditions.

See a collection of demonstrations including sugar-cane extraction,
mushroom cultivation, fish-farming, edible leaf-powder preparation, seed
cleaning, and a variety of effective farming techniques and tools used
throughout the developing world.

Activities for the children include leaf-painting, paint a pot-plant a
seed, and face painting. Food will be available for purchase from the
Philipino American Society. There will also be a tropical plant sale
featuring a large selection of mangos, avocados, citrus, bamboo, and
herbs.

The ECHO farm is located off Bayshore Road (Route 78) at 17391 Durrance
Road, one mile east of I-75 Exit 143. For more information, call
