Symphony Orchestra Looks For Musicians

LABELLE, FL. -- The Gulf Coast Symphony is Southwest Florida's premier community orchestra. Its members are your neighbors, your doctors, your lawyers... even your school teachers. Play an instrument and looking for a way to be a part of a friendly, musical community? "Come play with us!" says musical director Andrew M. Kurtz.

Kurtz was named the 2007 Angel of the Arts Performing Artist of the Year by the Alliance of the Arts. "As founding Music Director of the Gulf Coast Symphony, Dr. Kurtz has single-handedly organized and maintained a community-based orchestra and provided an opportunity for local musicians to express their talent; all with total devotion and little financial reward. In his 12th season as Director and Conductor, he has provided enormous education and musical playing experience and wonderful entertainment to our community. He has enriched our lives with his creative musical talents," commented the Arts of the Alliance Angel Awards Jury.

The orchestra typically rehearses on Tuesday evenings from 7 pm to 10 pm. An extra rehearsal may be called the week of a concert. Repertoire ranges from classical to pops. Only play the radio? Then tell a friend or family member who might be more musically inclined about this unique opportunity to be a part of the Southwest Florida musical family.
