Crash In Heavy Rain Leaves Two Dead
MOORE HAVEN, FL. -- Mary Ann Wilcox, 46 and Zachary Cornelius Wilcox, 20 or Moore Haven died after a crash during heavy rain on State Road 78, five miles north of U.S. 27 at 5:30 P.M. Friday.
Wilcox was driving a 2004 Mitsubishi when it hydroplaned and slid into the southbound lane striking a 2006 Nissan driven by Sam Caliendo, 65 of Moore Haven. Caliendo, wearing a seatbelt suffered no injuries but his vehicle had $20,000 damage. Both Wilcoxes were not wearing seatbelts, according to the accident report by the FHP. Their car suffered $20,000 damage.
