Bedbugs Under Control In Hendry-Glades Motels

One Area Bedbug Case Found Last Summer

CLEWISTON, FL. -- The Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation conducts motel and hotel inspections on every licensed establishment though the year, and reports on violations, including any bedbugs found.

Fortunately, only one case has been found in Hendry and Glades county, and the report was from June, according to state inspection reports.

The Plaza Travel Inn on East Sugarland Highway in Clewiston was warned on June 24, 2010 of bed bugs in room 110. The vermin were taken care of by a pest control company.

The state says no establishments are closed because of bed bugs, but once discovered by an inspector, the room cannot be rented until the bed bugs are gone. The department conducts follow-up inspections within 14 days of the initial reports.
