The annual festival features music, arts and crafts, entertainment, rodeo, and the parade each year on the 1st Saturday each March, with a youth livestock show and auction during the week before the Saturday parade day.
The Chalo Nitka is one of Florida's oldest continuous festivals, dating back to 1949 when the celebration started commemorating the completion of the paving of Main Street (now called Avenue J) in Moore Haven.
Chalo Nitka means "The Day of the Big Bass" in the Seminole Indian language. The festival continues Sunday from 12 to 4 p.m. featuring live Spanish music, alligator wrestling, and midway rides.
