CLEWISTON, FL. -- Hendry-Glades Audubon will host a free public program on Hendry and Collier County State Forests on Monday February 11 at 7 p. m. at the Clewiston Museum 109 Central Avenue Clewiston, Florida (across the street from The Clewiston Inn).
Florida Forest Service Forester, Heather L. Ferrand, will present an information presentation “Okaloacoochee Slough State Forest and Picayune Strand State Forest: An Overview of State Forest Management in SW Florida."
Heather is originally from Detroit, Michigan. She graduated from Wayne State University in Detroit with a B.A. in Anthropology in 2001. She earned a Master’s degree in Forest Resources and Conservation and a graduate minor in landscape architecture in 2010 for the University of Florida.

Her professional interests include forest ecology, land management and urban forestry. She was employed as a Forester in Tate’s Hell State Forest in Franklin County, Florida prior to joining the Caloosahatchee Forestry Center in Lee County this year. In addition to her position with the FFS, Heather is also the Program Coordinator for the Florida Master Naturalist Program, a UF/IFAS extension program.
