Dead Man Identified From Crash

Dental X-Ray Identifies 18-Year Old

CLEWISTON, FL. --  The Florida Highway Patrol has released the identity of a man killed in a crash in Hendry County, Florida on March 30th.

The driver has been identified as Darren Jim, 18 of Clewiston, Florida after a dental X-ray comparison conducted at the District 21 Medical Examiner's Office in Fort Myers.

Jim was traveling westbound in the eastbound lane of County Road 833 east of County Road 846 at the Seminole Indian Reservation about 8:33 p.m. in a 2000 Polaris ATV as a 2011 Ford F150 pickup truck was eastbound.

As a result, the ATV collided head on with the truck  in the eastbound lane.

The collision impact redirected the ATV into the westbound lane. The truck driver, Manuel Mondo Tiger, 53 of Clewiston, then lost control of the truck which then departed the roadway, said FHP Trooper T. Parks.

The ATV came to final rest partially in the westbound lane and partially on the north shoulder and the truck came to final rest against a barbed wire fence on the south grassy shoulder of County Road 833.

Tiger was transported to the Broward General Hospital in Fort Lauderdale with serious injuries.

The FPH says it is unknown whether Jim was driving under the influence and the investigation is continuing.
