10 Year Sentence For Child Pornography Offender

FORT MYERS, FL—United States District Judge John E. Steele has sentenced John J. Hanlon, Jr., 22 of Ft. Myers to seven years in federal prison, followed by ten years of supervised release, for distributing and possessing child pornography.

He pleaded guilty to the charges in October 2014. According to court documents, between June 12, 2013, and July 14, 2013, Hanlon distributed videos depicting child pornography to an undercover FBI task force agent using an Internet peer-to-peer network.

A federal search warrant was obtained for Hanlon’s residence and all of his electronic media-related items were seized. Forensic analyses of the seized items revealed more than 800 images and videos depicting child pornography.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Fort Myers Resident Agency. It was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Tama Koss Caldarone.
