She was a lifelong resident of Clewiston and retired from the Hendry County School System. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Clewiston and was in involved in the Gideons International auxiliary.
Survivors include her son Greg Newman (Michi) of Atlanta, GA; brother John Barton (Elizabeth), Maryville, TN; grandchildren Yale, Anders and Lake. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Newman; her parents, her sisters Geraldine, Joyce and Mary Alice and her brothers Loyas and Oscar.
Funeral services will be held Friday, January 30, 2015 at 11:30am at the First Baptist Church of Clewiston, FL with the Reverend Bill Derryberry officiating.
