Health Department And EMS Support School CPR Training

LABELLE, FL. -- Kevin Long, RN, Senior Registered Nurse-LaBelle School Health Consultant from the Florida Department of Health in Hendry County recently presented a Certificate of Recognition to Hendry County Emergency Services.

The certificate was given for the support and partnership to conduct CPR trainings at the health departments and in Hendry and Glades schools.

In addition to his school health consultant duties, Mr. Long is also an American Heart Association CPR/First Aid instructor. Mr. Long has conducted 14 CPR classes this year which resulted in 90 students being trained in CPR and First Aid. Without the support and partnership of Hendry County EMS, these classes would not have been possible.

Joe Pepe, Interim Administrator/Health Officer for the Florida Department of Health in Hendry and Glades stated "Recent reports show that 12% of our citizens reported that they have had a heart attack, angina, or coronary heart disease. CPR and Compression-Only trainings are just one way our agency is helping to protect our community every day."
