Steven Emory Dies After Transport Accident On I-75

NAPLES, FL. -- Steven Emory died as a result of an accident on an I-75 entrance ramp in Collier county, Florida Wednesday afternoon.

At approximately 3:48 PM, three truck tractors were hauling three different 170 foot, 94-ton concrete beams. The rear of the beams were supported on dollies for the oversized loads.

The trucks were entering I-75 from SR-29 (80-mm) heading eastbound. Due to the length of the load the rear dollies had to be unpinned so they could be steered down the entrance ramp by remote controls that steer the hydraulic rear dollies.

As the trucks proceeded slowly down the ramp and a worker, Steven Ronald Emery, 43 of Clermont, Fl. walked along the rear dolly steering it until the beam was straight in alignment with the tractor. In doing so, Emery, steering the rear dolly of the lead truck and for an unknown reason fell underneath the dolly wheels.

Emory was transported to Physician's Regional Hospital.
