Health Department Outreach To Community

Florida Department of Health Hendry/Glades has partnered with the Healthier Hendry/Glades Task Force to conduct four Child Safety community outreach events, specifically addressing prevention of drowning and heatstroke in a vehicle.
Golisano Children's Hospital provided a large thermometer that shows the outside temperature versus the temperature inside a vehicle to illustrate the danger of hot cars. Families will receive a complimentary car seat safety check and a bag of child safety materials provided by multiple area agencies. Families will also receive information about local agencies to connect them to services they may need, including Healthy Families!

Outreach events are being held at LaBelle Elementary, Redlands Children Migrant Association, Children's Garden preschool and the Walmart grand-opening celebration in LaBelle. DOH Hendry/Glades staff members are participating in these events (Healthy Families, Preparedness, and Healthy Start/Nurse Family Partnership staff.)
